The Maine Township Planning Commission, having completed and published the Maine Township Comprehensive Plan, is now charged with conducting hearings regarding proposed Zoning Variations within Unincorporated Maine Township.

When someone requests a Zoning Variation for a parcel in an unincorporated area of Maine Township within Cook County, they are required to notify the owners of neighboring properties.

If one or more of those neighboring owners files an objection to that proposed variation, the Maine Township Planning Commission convenes a hearing and subsequently makes a recommendation to the Maine Township Board of Trustees.

By reason of having a published comprehensive plan, if the Maine Township Board of Trustees elects to object to the proposed variation, the Cook County Board is then required to obtain a 3/5 majority (rather than just a simple majority) in order to approve the variation.

As Chairman of the Maine Township Planning Commission, I want to hear any objections you have concerning such proposed Zoning Variations.

I also welcome your thoughts and suggestions for how we can better serve you, and your concerns for property development within Maine Township in general.
